NEW! Beyond the Basics: Instructional Strategies for the Promethean ActiveClassroom
Participants will develop knowledge and skills in creating engaging and motivating classrooms through the use of Promethean technologies.  Teachers will experience first hand intermediate strategies for developing and using Promethean interactive content that will amplify teaching and learning in their classrooms.

Communication & Collaboration: Caravan Through America with Google™ Docs
This course will look at Google™™ Docs, an online Web 2.0 application that allows users to securely store information online, so it is easy to share with a group of collaborators. Participants will be working in groups with the online word processor, presentation, spreadsheet and form applications so they can collaborate simultaneously on the same document from any computer with Internet access. As an online activity, each group will plan a segment of a trip using Google Docs.

Bringing Communication & Collaboration into the Classroom
Discover different tools available for communication and collaboration, and what it might look like in your classroom. Participants will practice collaborating and work to enrich existing lessons with these important 21st century concepts.

This course provides attendees with concrete ideas and tangible tools to infuse creativity and innovation in a classroom setting. Participants will learn about the importance of creativity and innovation in education, hear about classroom management strategies to encourage creativity without creating chaos, sample online collaboration tools and technology training resources, and more. Individuals will explore curriculum and delivery tools to assist in setting up an online environment that works for your school.

Transitioning to a New Version of MS Office
This course is designed to assist participants in transitioning from older versions of Microsoft Office to Office versions 2007 or 2010. Participants will be viewing Atomic Learning tutorials to familiarize themselves with the Office User Interface and other new features of Office. In addition to exercises lead by the instructor, participants will also complete several projects on their own.

Now Available! Keeping Kids Safe—Strategies to Curb Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying, defined by the National Crime Prevention Council, is “when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt of embarrass another person.” This course will investigate Cyberbullying and the role that educators can take to prevent Cyberbullying, as well as their role in educating students, parents and colleagues around practices to ensure students are becoming responsible digital citizens.

Going Mobile: Portable Computing for the Classroom
This course focuses on developing strategies for including portable computing devices in classroom projects and lessons, including the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad™, and other cell phones and mobile computing platforms. These devices enable real time communication and feedback, as well as access to textbooks and reference sources. More importantly, they open the door to educational innovations that take advantage of ubiquitous, "always on" computing and communication.

Effective Online Instruction
This course is designed to be an introduction into the fast growing trend of online education and how it can benefit you and your students. Participants will explore curriculum, delivery and tools to assist in setting up an online environment and choosing what works for your school.


Assistive Technology Courses

Visual Supports in the Classroom
Learn how to get the most out of your visual support software. Using Boardmaker, Pix Writer, or Writing with Symbols, participants will learn how to create social stories and design picture schedules and symbols for use in communication. Also covered will be how to use these programs to modify curriculum. Participants will leave the course with customized materials to immediately implement in their classroom.

Using the Plus in Boardmaker™ Plus
Boardmaker™ Plus is a powerful tool, but often it is used only to print out symbols. This course will cover how to apply and use interactive features like movable buttons, quick action buttons, button actions to play a sound, message, or movie and much more. Come to create or adapt curriculum materials to use the next day.

iPod/iPad™ for Students with Special Needs
Using the iPod and iPad™ in special education is a growing trend. But how do you get started, what is the potential, and what strengths do students need in order to be successful users of this technology? This course will answer those questions and participants will walk away with an implementation plan for a student or classroom to ensure successful use of this technology.

Supporting Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Throughout the Day
The world is a fast-paced place for students using AAC. Learn how to support these communicators throughout their day so the world doesn’t pass them by without the opportunity to participate. Strategies for incorporating low tech/no tech through high tech communication devices will be taught.

Exploring Computer Access Methods
You don’t need a keyboard and a mouse to operate the computer. This course will explore the many options for controlling the computer without a standard keyboard or mouse. Learn how to open the digital door with tools like voice recognition, programmable switch interfaces and IntelliKeys™ Keyboard with Overlay Maker. Hands on time will allow you to create and program so your students can gain access to the world of computers.

Implementing Accessible Instructional Materials
Once a need for accessible instructional materials (AIM) is determined, focus shifts to tool selection, implementation planning, inclusion strategies and evaluation. In this course, participants will about available resources and collaboration strategies to help ensure that implementation plans result in successful academic performance. Topics discussed will include ensuring AIM user participation, classroom management, principles of Universal Design and Differentiated Instruction in relation to AIM and more.
